It’s Getting Better All The Time! Mental Health Outreach Inc. was founded in 2001 as an outreach vehicle for individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses. A Nonprofit 501c (3) organization, this organization provides services in person within the DC, MD, and Virginia area and assistance throughout the United States via our outreach vehicles.

Factors
The following factors have influenced the development of this organization:
1. The ongoing challenges faced by individuals impacted by a severe and persistent mental illness in obtaining assistance, information, and support.
2. The importance of religion/spirituality in individuals who adhere to these beliefs.
3. Current mental health disparities.

Core Values and Faith
Guided by our Core Values of Faith, Fellowship/Relationship, and Empowerment through information, we seek to ensure that individuals have the correct information to make the right life choices.

Team
Our team comprises mental health advocates, organizations, clergy, licensed mental health professionals, family members, peers, and members with lived mental health experiences. We seek to understand the individual not just as a person with a mental illness but also as a person with psychological, cultural, and spiritual strengths that can be utilized in their recovery.

We believe that all individuals are worthy of respect and dignity. Therefore, we want to assist individuals in obtaining the needed tools and resources that will allow them to address their own needs and make decisions that will be conducive to their growth and development.

Payment
It’s Getting Better All The Time! Mental Health Outreach Inc. accepts the following insurance(s): Maryland and DC Medicaid, Medicare, Magellan, AmeriHealth, Care First, Optimum, and more. In addition, some services are offered free of charge or at a nominal fee.

Individuals Served
Adults impacted by a mental illness (individuals directly impacted, family members, and others). We provide services to anyone and everyone. Those with no income, low income, insured, uninsured military/veterans, faith-based and non-faith based. Note we can refer individuals needing support who are under the age of 18.

These activities include but are not limited to hiring, firing, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services.

Goal: To provide information and support while encouraging hope and faith to all individuals who are coping with the effects of a severe and persistent mental illness or negative life situation with special emphasis on adults within the faith based community, African Americans, and the economically disadvantaged who have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Bipolar, and other psychotic disorders. Our services are designed for anyone who can use them.

Our vision is to ensure that all individuals who have been impacted in some way by a severe and persistent mental illness will have access to information that will empower them to make informed decisions about their mental health and fulfill their God given purpose for living.


Service Goals

There are several factors that have influenced the development of the organizations’ mission, objectives and goals. These factors include: the ongoing challenges faced by individuals who have been impacted by a severe and persistent mental illness in the area of obtaining assistance, information and support; the importance of religion/spirituality in the lives of those individuals who adhere to these beliefs, and the current mental health disparities within certain communities.

Severe and persistent mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia & Bipolar disorders seriously impede an individuals’ ability to obtain employment, interact socially, or even cope with every day life events. Click here
