Live your life to the fullest in the presence of those things in your life that you can’t change.
Life has not gone the way you hoped. Death, sickness, medication changes, loneliness, and persistent negative situations have made things hard. Sometimes you don’t feel like getting out of bed, showering, talking to anyone, or taking your medications.
But remember, your life is not over. So accept those things that you can’t change. What does acceptance mean? First, acceptance is not giving up or not doing the things you need to do to live life to the fullest. Chronic, uninterrupted exhaustion or defeat can cause us to feel hopeless. When people believe that there is no hope for recovery or that things will never change, they give up. If we think that we are destined to be a victim and have no control over what happens in our lives, we can lose the desire to help ourselves or even hope for change. Never give up. Accept that there are some things in your life that you can’t control; rest in that fact and make adjustments.
Acceptance is coming to a sense of rest, and it is looking at things as they are. When we learn to rest in where we are in life now, we can begin to build a life and take advantage of the available opportunities. Acceptance is living your life to the fullest while living with the symptoms of your illness. Acceptance is freeing yourself from the prison of your limitations and realizing that God has indeed created you for a purpose.
